Khoroshilov on top

ADELBODEN: Aleksander Khoroshilov of Russia used the No 1 starting bib to post the fastest opening-run time in a World Cup slalom on Sunday.

Khoroshilov got the first and best use of a soft-snow surface to lead Marcel Hirscher of Austria, the overall World Cup leader, by 0.24 seconds.

Henrik Kristoffersen of Norway, who leads the World Cup slalom standings, was third, 0.32 behind Khoroshilov’s time of 55.21.

Khoroshilov is aiming to break up the Hirscher-Kristoffersen dominance in slalom this season.

He has gone 1-2 in each of the three races so far, including on Wednesday at Santa Caterina, Italy.
