Khuman wins Indian Ambassador’s Cup

Kathmandu, April 5:

Major NC Khuman won the Indian Ambassador’s Cup Golf Tournament at the Le Meridien Gokarna Forest Golf Resort and Spa today.

Played under stableford 3/4 handicap format, Khuman accumulated 44 points. Khuman, who played with 18 handicap allowance, scored 24 in the front nine and 20 in the back nine to finish as the overall winner. Playing with 15 handicap, Tendi Sherpa scored 18 and 22 to finish second with 40 points.

Tashi Ghale won the 1-9 handicap category with 37 points, while Harish Gorsia came second with 34. Maj Pravin Khadka came first in the 10-18 handicap section with 37 points, beating Gen CB Gurung, who accumulated 35 points.

Dr HS Sool was the winner in the 19-24 handicap section with 37 points, followed by Yeshi Tsering, who earned 34 points. Kesang Lama emerged victorious in the ladies section with 30 points, while Pushpa Rai came second with 24.

Lt Gen KNS Thapa won the senior (above 55) section award, while Maj LB Gurung finished second. HS Rana was the winner in the super senior (above 80) section. U Aung Khin Soe of Myanmar was the best golfer among the ambassadors. Harish Gorsia won the closest to the pin award, while Tashi Tsering claimed the longest drive award. Geeta Khuman won the Ladies Putting Tournament beating Kiran Pandey.

A total of 79 golfers, including five ladies, took part in the tournament. Indian Ambassador to Nepal Shiv Shankar Mukherjee gave away prizes to the winners.
