Konta dumped out

BEIJING: Britain’s Johanna Konta, who reached the quarter-finals of the WTA Wuhan Open last year, had a less happy start to her 2016 season in China on Tuesday as she flared out in the first round of the Shenzhen Open. The No 5 seed took the first set against home player Wang Qiang, but eventually went out 6-3, 3-6, 3-6 in an hour and 50 minutes. Australian-born Konta, aged 24, is currently ranked 48 in the world.
