Kathmandu, March 24:

Nepal Cycling Club is organising the second Kathmandu Adventure Rally, promoted by Nepal Tourism Board, on March 26. “The rally is being organised to promote tourism, and aims to attract tourists coming to Kathmandu this season,” said Hikmat Singh Aiyer, Tourism Product and Resource Development Department manager at NTB. “It is surely going to be an adventure as it introduces a new system, that is reading the map to reach the destination,” said the rally director Masa Nishihama, a Japanese national, who migrated to Nepal two years ago. The rally will begin from the NTB and after a 40-km adventurous circuit till Tokha, is scheduled to end in Thamel. In all, 50 participants, both Nepali and foreigners have confirmed their participation so far which includes 10 women.

“The event will enhance the participants’ knowledge of reading maps, which is not so popular in Nepal,” said Nishihama adding that it is a composite game of mind and power. The race is divided into two categories — RIESON and Special Stage. While RIESON will help the bikers reach their destinations within a given time with the help of a map, the Special Stage is similar to the ordinary race. In the end, the points will be added from both the stages to decide the winners.
