Kunwar demands probe against wrongdoings of ANFA leadership

Kathmandu, August 10

Former Senior Vice-president of All Nepal Football Association Mani Kunwar today submitted memorandum to Ministry of Youth and Sports and National Sports Council seeking investigation and action against the wrongdoing of the ANFA officials.

Kunwar, who lost to Karma Tsering Sherpa in the election for the top post of ANFA on May 5, handed over the five-point memorandum to Minister Jagat Bahadur Sunar and Member Secretary Keshab Kumar Bista, accusing the ANFA, led by Sherpa, of series of wrongdoings and working on personal interests rather than the development of football.

In the memorandum, Kunwar has urged the MoYS and NSC to investigate the relegation-less league, participation of Nabin Pandey — who holds the German passport — in the FIFA Congress in Russia last month, the distribution of FIFA World Cup tickets, nominations of officials against the ANFA statute, the special general assembly called to amend the statute. “The ANFA leadership has nominated honorary senior vice-president and now they are trying to include that post through statute amendment,” said Kunwar, who is also the vice-president of South Asian Football Federation. “They are just trying to strengthen their stranglehold over the ANFA illegally,” he added.

“A foreigner representing Nepal in the FIFA Congress is a matter of humiliation for all Nepalis,” added Kunwar, who also accused the ANFA leadership of wrongdoings during the elections.
