Doha, December 13:

Another 10th South Asian Games karate gold medallist Kusal Shrestha was ousted from the pre-quarterfinals of the 15th Asian Games here at the Qatar Sports Club Indoor Hall in Doha today.

Kusal had the first round bye but lost against Fadi Al Naffar of Jordan 1-9 in his first bout. Also the 9th SAF Games silver medallist, Kusal even didn’t have the opportunity to fight for bronze medal qualifier after his opponent in the pre-quarterfinal Naffar failed to reach the final.

In Chess, Syria defeated Nepal 2.5-0.5 in the seventh round of the Mixed Team’s Classical event. Bilamlal Shrestha lost to International Master Imad Hakki and Monalisa Khamboo was beaten by Afamaya Mir Mahmod while Surbir Lama held Jwan Bakr. Nepal have so far seven points as India lead the standing with 18.5 points with two more rounds still to go.
