KATHMANDU: Phuntsok N Lama accumulated 42 points to take lead after the first day of the third World Tourism Day Open Golf Tournament here at the Royal Nepal Golf Club on Saturday.

The 14-handicap amateur golfer, Lama scored 21 points on either half to stay at the top of the table. Capt MB Rai and Saroj Bastakoti were joint second 37 points, while Maj Nischaya Jung Rayamajhi was next with 36 points.

Pawitra Yakthumba was at the top in women’s section with 24 points, one more than Kaushi Maya Rai. Pratima Sherpa and Sandhya Rai were third with 20 points. Likewise, Binod Tamang scored 42 points to stay atop in junior section, while Subash Ghising was second with 37.
