LAS, AVM triumph

Lalitpur, December 14:

Little Angels’ School (LAS) defeated Nightingale by 51 runs and AVM School beat Deep Jyoti by 69 runs in the inaugural day matches of the third Shree SNB Memorial Inter-school Cricket Tournament, which has been organised by AVM School, here at the Institute of Engineering grounds today.

Put into bat first, LAS scored 159 runs losing two wickets in their allotted 20 overs riding on Mukesh Jaiswal’s half century. The man of the match, Jaiswal scored 53 off 60 balls hitting six fours, while Suvankar Singh made 47-ball 36 including nine boundaries.

In reply, Nightingale were packed for 108 runs. Suraj Chaudhary was the top-scorer for the team with 27 off 29 balls. For LAS, Rochak Bhatta took 3-22 off four overs.

In the second match, the hosts AVM School scored 116 runs losing three wickets in 18 overs. Dipson Baskota and Indra Kamal Manandhar scored 40 runs each. In reply, Deep Jyoti could muster just 69 runs.

Anil Bajracharya of AVM School, who took three wickets, was named the man of the match. On Friday, it’s: Rajan Memorial vs Kathmandu Xavier’s and LRI vs DAV at the same venue.
