Priti, Kalpana in semis

Lalitpur: Priti Rijal, Kalpana Thapa, Shagun Thapa and Sarita Adhikari advanced to the Ladies Singles quarter-finals of the Nepal Investment Bank National Tennis Tournament. Priti beat Kencho Palden 6-3, 6-3 and Kalpana beat Samata Shakya while Shagun beat Saluni Lama 6-1, 6-4 and Sarita overcame Binu Suwal. Team ‘A’ and Team ‘B’ of the Satdobato Club made it to team event semi-finals. — HNS

Far-western advance

KANCHANPUR: Far-Western Region and Nepali Army advanced to the men’s section semi-finals at the 16th Men’s and 10th Women’s National Kabbadi Tournament. Far-western advanced as Group ‘A’ winner after beating the Nepali Army 35-33. Nepali Army qualified as the runner up after a 94-21 win over Mid-western. Central Region and Western Region entered the semi-finals from Group ‘B’. Eastern, Far-western and Western made it to the last four of the women’s section. — HNS

Prem clinches title

POKHARA: Prem Pun of Himalayan Archery Club (HAC) accumulated 93 points to win the individual gold at the second National Archery Tournament here at the Pokhara Stadium on Sunday. His teammate Ramesh Bhattachan was adjudged second despite scoring equal 93 points. Binod Gauchan of Marsyangdi Archery Club came third with 90 points. Annapurna Archery Club won the team event with the score of 177 followed by Marsyangdi (169) and Himalayan (165). Top three winners in individual won Rs 9,000, Rs 6,000 and Rs 3,000 while the top three in the team event got Rs 15,000, Rs 10,000 and Rs 5,000 respectively. — HNS
