Biratnagar win
POKHARA: Kathmandu Metropolitan City edged out Itahari Municipality 2-0 and Biratnagar Sub-metropolis beat Butwal Municipality 4-2 in tiebreaker after a 1-1 deadlock to enter the semi-finals of the third Inter-municipality Football Tournament on Tuesday. Pradeep Maharjan and Khum Gurung scored for Kathmandu. In the other match, Netra Thapa scored from the spot in the 13th minute but Deepak Rai extended the match levelling the scores in the second half injury time for Butwal. Madhyapur Thimi will take on Lalitpur in the first semi-final on Wednesday. Kathmandu face Biratnagar in the second semi-final on Thursday. — HNS
Junior handball
KATHMANDU: Brihaspati School and Laboratory School won both of their league matches on the opening day of the first Inter-school U-12 Handball Tournament here on Tuesday. Brihaspati defeated Malpi International 10-4 before thrashing Rose Bud 11-3 while Laboratory edged past St Xavier’s 6-4 and overpowered Anmol Jyoti 6-1. Also it was; St Xavier 11, Anmol 3; Rose Bud 7, Dipendra Police 1; and Dipendra Police 4, Malpi 2. — HNS
LACM Sports
KATHMANDU: Little Angels’ College of Management (LACM) ‘A’ and Kathmandu College of Management (KCM) in women’s section and KCM and LACM ‘A’ in men’s section entered the final of the basketball tournament at the LACM Invitational Sports Week-2007. In the women’s section, both the LACM ‘A’ and KCM got walkover wins from LACM ‘B’ and Nepal College of Management (NCM) respectively. In the men’s section, KCM overpowered NCM 72-12 and LACM ‘A’ outplayed LACM ‘B’ 48-9. — HNS
