HSC qualify
KATHMANDU: Himalayan Sherpa Club (HSC) was qualified for ‘C’ Division after it hammered Bal Premi Khelkud Mandal 8-0 in Group ‘A’ final at the Selection Football Tournament on Friday. Yakub Rai scored four and Dinesh Karki two while Sanam Lama and Sagun Rai added one apiece. In other matches, Dhuku Youth Club hammered Nawa Jagaran Yuva Club 8-1 and Triveni Yuva Club edged out Skyland Youth Club 5-4 in tiebreaker after a 2-2 deadlock. — HNS
Gear handed over
KATHMANDU: Chinese Wushu Federation on Friday handed over Rs one million worth of sports gear to Nepal Wushu Association (NWA). Chen Ling, first secretary at the Chinese Embassy, handed over the gears to Nepal Olympic Committee president Dhruba Bahadur Pradhan, who in turn handed it over to NWA president Sitkar Rajbhandari amidst a programme. The wushu gears includes swords, sticks, spear, shoes, dresses, kick-pad and punching pad. — HNS
Rejina wins
KATHMANDU: Rejina Bista beat Nisha Tamang to win the 20kg kickboxing bout on the opening day of the third Valleywide Karate and Kickboxing Tournament, organised by Samakhushi Dojo of Nepal Shito Ryu Karate Association, here on Friday. Sunny Tamang claimed the 25kg gold medal defeating Sanju Tamang in the final. Sudip Puri and Sumit Tandukar advanced to the 20kg boys’ final while Basanta Rai and Anil Gautam also made it to 25kg final. In all 217 men and 103 women is competing for 28 gold medals — 16 in men and 12 in women’s section. — HNS
