Buddha Air triumph

KATHMANDU: Buddha Air defeated Chancery Team B of the Embassy of India (EoI) 2-1 in the first Independence Day Football Tournament here at the EoI grounds on Saturday. Chandra Tamang and captain Sunil Gurung scored for Buddha Air while Niranjan Shrestha converted for Chancery Team. In another match, Hotel Radisson and DAV School played a 3-3 draw. Rajendra Baniya, Rupak Maharjan and Saran Dangol struck a goal each for Radisson while Dhan Singh, Saurav Baniya and Shamrat Shrestha scored for DAV. — HNS

DFC make profit

DHARAN: Dharan Football Club (DFC), the organisers of Budha Subba Gold Cup Football made public the tournament’s earning and expenditures for the first time in nine years. The Club made Rs 299,000 profit from the ninth edition of the tournament, said DFC president Subhash Rai. The total cost of the tournament was Rs 2.1 million, Rai said. In all, 12 teams participated in the event. — HNS
