Wilson lift trophy

KATHMANDU: Wilson Academy registered a 53-37 win over Shridiwa International in the final of the third HIMS Inter-school Basketball Tournament organised by Himalaya International Model School. Krishna Shrestha top-scored with 18 points for Wilson. Krishna Gurung of Sridiwa was adjudged the MVP while Suman Baskota of Unique finished as the highest scorer with 134 points. Namgyal School won the fair play award. — HNS

Coca Cola Cup

LALITPUR: Siddhartha Vanasthali and Shivapuri School won their Group A matches at the Coca Cola Cup Inter-school Football. Vanasthali beat Bhaktapur School 2-1. Santosh Gurung and Buddha Lama scored for Vanasthali after Amit Sahukhala had put Bhaktapur School ahead in the eighth minute. Shivapuri edged Bishwo Gorkha Academy 4-1. Shyam Nepali struck twice and Bikash Pariyar and Shyam Malla added one each for Shivapuri while Anjesh Khadgi pulled one back for Bishwo Gorkha. — HNS

KATHMANDU: Bahira Balak School defeated Shrijana Bahira Awashiya School 4-1 in the final of the football tournament organised for the hearing impaired during the 12th Inter-school Special Sports on Sunday. Balkumari Susta Manisthiti Kalyan School won the mentally challenged section football title. Other winners included Sushil Thapa in 50m (visually impaired, above-12yrs), Bina Lachu in soft ball throw (mentally challenged, 8-11yrs), Kamala Singh in 100m (visually impaired, U-13), Manita Maharjan in standing longjump (mentally challenged), Punyeswori Shrestha in standing longjump (mentally challenged, above-16yrs), Baburam Kumal in soft ball throw (mentally challenged, 8-11yrs), Krishna Prasad Bhandari in longjump (hearing impaired, above-16yrs), Sujan Maharjan in standing longjump (mentally challenged, 12-15yrs), Bidhya Adhikari in 100m (on crutches), Pawal Rana in shotput (visually impaired, above-13yrs), Kaleshi Giri in 100m (wheelchair, above-16yrs), Nawajyoti Kendra in boys’ 4x100 metre relay (mentally challenged). — HNS

MIS triumph

KATHMANDU: Modern Indian School (MIS) beat Kendriya Vidhyalaya 2-1 in the first Independence Day Football Tournament at the Embassy of India (EoI) on Sunday. Tenzing Chotak and Amit Rehman scored for MIS while Abhisekh Shah converted for Kendriya Vidhyalaya. In all, 14 teams are participating in the tournament which has been organised by the EoI during the weekends. — HNS

Fun Cricket

LALITPUR: Casino Everest defeated Gulf Air by 26 runs in the Serious Fun Cricket Tournament here at The British School on Sunday. Batting first, Casino were all out for 75 runs in 14.3 overs. Om Shrestha became the first batsman to retire after he scored 31 runs. In reply, Gulf Air managed 49 runs in 7.4 overs. In the other match, Himalayan Distillery (88 all out) beat Nepal Sports Journalists Forum (50 all out) by 38 runs. — HNS
