Senior Nat’l Cricket

KATHMANDU: Region No 3 (Kathmandu) will take on Region No 6 (Baitadi) in the opening day of the Shikhar Senior One-day National Cricket Tournament here on Thursday. Both the teams are pitted in Group B along with Region No 4 (Bhairahawa). Group A consists of Region 1 (Biratnagar), Region 2 (Birgunj) and Region No 5 (Nepalgunj). — HNS

White House win

KATHMANDU: Himalayan White House defended the fourth Fr Watrin Basketball Championship beating Bishalnagar Youth Club (BYC) 48-40 in final on Wednesday. Rupak Gurung of BYC was declared the most valuable player. Nepal Olympic Committee president Dhruba Bahadur Pradhan and Fr James J Donnelly gave away the prizes. In all 16 teams participated in the tournament organised by Godavari Alumni Association. — HNS

Football Festival

KATHMANDU: All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) and Coca Cola organised Coca Cola Football Festival on Wednesday. Eight schools that made it to the league round of the ongoing Coca Coal Inter-school Football Tournament gathered at Tundikhel along with coaches, former and current national players. Nepal Sports Journalists Forum (NSJF) president Niranjan Rajbansi donated the Coca Cola sponsored jerseys to Upendra Man Singh, president of Madhyapur Youth Association and former national football captain, after a friendly match between the NSJF and ANFA. — HNS

TIA, Wilson advance

KATHMANDU: Trungram International Academy (TIA), Wilson and Sambotta entered the quarter-finals of the third HIMS Inter-school Basketball Tournament. TIA edged out Young Hearts 50-48, Wilson defeated Shuvatara (Lamatar) 43-28 and Sambotta beat Shuvatara (Sanepa) 46-25. — HNS

KATHMANDU: Mount Kailash, Rose Bud and Ideal English School registered wins in the first Inter-school Basketball Tournament, organised by the Employees’ Committee of the National Sports Council, on Wednesday. Prithvi School crushed Xavier International 29-0 in the girls’ match. — HNS
