Inter-school Chess tourney

KATHMANDU: North Point Academy is organising the Mahant Memorial Nation-wide Inter-school Chess Tournament here from May 19-22. The tournament is divided into two categories — below Grade Seven and above Grade Seven. Top five players in both the boys’ and girls’ section will be awarded with cash prizes, said the oraganisers. — HNS

NRSF’s national assembly

KATHMANDU: The first general assembly of Nepal Republican Sports Federation (NRSF) is scheduled for May 8-9 in Kathmandu. Two members each from all the 50 NRSF districts committees will take part in the assembly, said NRSF speaker Rana Sangram Bista at a press meet on Sunday. — HNS

Karate players selected

KATHMANDU: Nepal Karate Federation selected 12 karatekas for the upcoming Central Region Karate Tournament. Dilip Maharjan (50kg), Amrit Adhikari (55kg), Mukunda Maharjan (60kg), Binod Maharjan (65kg), Riddhi Tamrakar (70kg), Sagar Shrestha (75kg) were Puspendra Shrestha (80k), Jyoti Giri (48kg and individual kata), Maya Lama (53kg) and Surabhi Rajbhandari were chosen in women’s section, said NKF here on Sunday. Purusma Madan Maharjan was selected in men’s individual kata. — HNS
