National badminton

KATHMANDU: The 32nd National Badminton Tournament is slated for August 11-14 in Bharatpur, Nepal Badminton Association (NBA) said on Tuesday. In all, 30 district associations and three NBA recognised clubs — Himalayan Badminton Club, Armed Police Force Officers’ Club and Mahendra Police Club — will take part in the competition. The tournament features 12 events — men and women’s singles, doubles and team; mixed and veterans’ doubles; Under-19 boys and girls’; and Under-16 boys and girls’. — HNS

Volleyball tourney

KATHMANDU: Makawanpur District Volleyball Association, in coordination with Nepal Volleyball Association, is organising the 24th Men’s and 14th Women’s National Volleyball Tournament from April 28 in Makawanpur. The objective of the event is to prepare a volleyball team for the 11th South Asian Games slated for Bangladesh, said National Sports Council. — HNS

LALITPUR: Sony Ranipokhari Corner Team (RCT) registered an easy 5-2 win over Tribhuvan Army Club in the third Nepal Bank ‘A’ Division Junior (U-14) League Football here at ANFA Complex grounds on Tuesday. Makar Dhoj Gurung scored a hat-trick while Sushil Prajapati added two more goals for RCT. Bodh Bahadur Magar scored both the goals for the Army team. Krishna Bikram Thapa scored a solitary goal in Nabil Three Star Club’s 1-0 win over Carlsberg Manang Marsyangdi Club. In another match of the day, Samsung Jawalakhel Youth Club (JYC) came from behind to beat Machhindra Energizer Club 2-1. Silas Rai scored in 47th and 64th minute after Bikram Karki had given Machhindra the lead in the 35th minute. — HNS
