Rato Bangala beat Don Bosco

KATHMANDU: Rato Bangala beat Don Bosco 27-17 at the Inter-college Basketball Tournament, which has been organised by Kathmandu Don Bosco College under their eighth Weeka Talentia Programme. In other matches, Prime College beat Classic 50-22, DAV outplayed Campion 47-27, White Field overcame Brookfield 44-20 and White House thrashed Xavier International 40-10. — HNS

Greenland thrash Third Eye

KATHMANDU: Dipesh Karki netted 19 points as Greenland School thrashed Third Eye 45-1 in the inaugural match of the 2nd Kwik’s Greenland Inter-school Basketball Tournament. In the other Mid Boys matches, Kathmandu Valley beat Fluorescent 21-17 and Valley Public outplayed Skylark 40-20. In Junior Boys section, Valley Public beat Greenland 22-15, while Valley Public outplayed Shrine Academy 35-13 in girl’s section. SEB beat Golden Peak 12-10 in the Sub-junior Boys section. — HNS

Pashupati outplay Loyala 8-1

KATHMANDU: Pashupati Campus ‘B’ thrashed Loyala College 8-1 in the prequarter-finals of the third Kwik’s Cup Inter-college Football Tournament here at Sanogaucharan on Friday. Arun Gurung scored a hat-trick for Pashupati, while Padam Basnet of Loyala was adjudged the man of the match. In the other match, K & K College outplayed SM College 4-0. Nabin Basnet struck a hat-trick for the winners. Amit Subedi of SM College was named the man of the match. In Saturday’s quarter-finals, it’s: Pashupati ‘A’ vs Kathmandu Valley and Xavier International vs Kumari. — HNS

Coaches to go to Kuala Lumpur

KATHMANDU: Assistant coaches Jagat Bahadur Tamata and Mahesh Prasad Rijal are on Saturday leaving for Malaysia to participate in the ACC Level 1 Coach Educator Course to be organised by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) from February 11-16 in Kuala Lumpur. According to the Cricket Association of Nepal, representatives from Cricket Australia and ACC Development Officers will conduct the course. — HNS

Gupta elected in AWLF

KATHMANDU: General secretary of Nepal Weight Lifting Association (NWLA) Partha Sarathi Sen Gupta was elected to the member of the six-member Scientific and Research Committee of the Asian Weight Lifting Federation (AWLF). According to the NWLA, Gupta got 29 of the 35 votes in the election held on February 2-3 in Macau. NWLA member Tilak Bahadur Raut also attended the election. Sheikh Mejren Sultan of the UAE was elected the president of the AWLF. — HNS
