DPS clinch IGP Cup

KAVRE: Dipendra Police School (DPS) ‘A’ beat defending champions Birendra Sainik Awasiya Mahavidhyalaya (BSAM) 3-1 in the final of the 15th IGP Inter-school Football Tournament. Prakash Gurung, Kshitiz Lama and Sujan Gurung scored for DPS, while Santosh Upadhaya netted one goal for BSAM. SOS Herman Gmeiner School finished third and Siddhartha Vanasthali Institute bagged the Fair Play award. Sujan Gurung of DPS ‘A’ was named the best player and Prakash Gurung of the same school was the highest scorer netting 11 goals. IGP Om Bikram Rana gave away the awards to the winners. In all, 14 teams from 13 schools took part in the tournament. — HNS

KATHMANDU: Tribhuvan Army Club defeated Gandaki Air and Ocean Freight 25-13, 25-11, 25-14 in the second-leg opening match at the Dhorpatan Blue Sky Volleyball League Championship at Tundikhel on Sunday. In other matches, White House Sports Club beat Shikhar Sanskritik Manch 22-25, 25-21, 25-23, 25-22; Gulmeli Youth Club outplayed Purbanchal Team 25-17, 25-19, 25-23; and Khotang Samaj Sewa registered a 26-24, 23-25, 25-21, 25-16 over Bode Sports Club. — HNS

Sixth BVS Basketball

KATHMANDU: Brihaspati Vidhya Sadan (BVS) is organising the sixth BVS Inter-school Basketball Friendship Meet from December 15. In all, 22 teams — 16 in Mini Boys’ and six in girls’ section — are taking part in the tournament, said Murari Nidhi Tiwari, principal of Brihaspati Vidhya Sadan, at a press meet on Sunday. — HNS
