APF, Sarlahi win :

KATHMANDU: Armed Police Force Officers’ Club thrashed Sunsari 9-1 and Sarlahi crushed Dhanusa 7-0 in the Women’s Open Football Tournament. Mira Maharjan and Anu Lama struck a hat-trick apiece. Tej Gurung, Jamuna Gurung and Laxmi Poudel also scored for APF. Anita Rai scored for Sunsari. Manisha Chaudhary struck four goals while Binam Gurung scored two and Chanda Thapa one for Sarlahi. — HNS

Referee named :

KATHMANDU: The meeting of the National Referee Council of the Nepal Karate Federation on Sunday has nominated referee Narayan Dev Rana (Kumite) and Preeti Dangol (Kata) for the 15th Asian Games to be held in Doha in December. The NRC meeting held on Friday decided send Rana to officiate in Kumite and Dangol in Kata. — HNS

Three Star lose :

KATHMANDU: Indian Army-XI beat Nabil Three Star Club 1-0 in the Governor’s Gold Cup Football Tournament in Sikkim on Sunday. Even the four Mahendra Police Club players — Hari Khadka, Jumanu Rai, Rakesh Gurung and Ananta Thapa — could not avert their defeat. Three Star will play Sikkim Academy-XI on October 11 and Air India on October 15 in other league matches. — HNS
