Sridiwa lift title :

KATHMANDU: Sridiwa beat Wilson 39-35 in the senior boys’ final at the fourth RIBS Inter-school Basketball Tournament here today. Sanjay Gurung scored a match-winning 14 points. Pemba Sherpa of Sridiwa was adjudged man of the match.

Alpha’s defeated Penwood 36-16 in the girls’ section final riding on Susma Thapa Magar’s 19 points. Prekshya Dahal was declared the best player of the match. In junior boys’ final, Wilson defeated the hosts Rhododendron International Boarding School (RIBS) 49-31. Man of the match Biraj Manandhar scored the highest 17 points for the winners.

Sita Shrestha of Alpha’s won the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award in the girls’ section while Ashok Bhattarai of RIBS won the junior boys’ section award and Karma Lama of Wilson was declared the MVP in the senior boys’ category. GEMS won the fair play award. Principal of RIBS Devi Gurung gave away prizes to the winners. — HNS

Volleyball :

KATHMANDU: Tribhuvan Army Club (TAC), Armed Police Force (APF) Officers’ Club, Shikhar Sanskritik Manch and Bode Sports Club won their respective matches at the Dhorpatan Blue Sky Cup Volleyball League Championship here today.

TAC beat Karunakeswor Yuva Club 25-11, 25-18, 25-14 while APF edged past Purbanchal 25-20, 21-25, 25-22, 25-23. Likewise, Shikhar Sanskritik registered a hard-fought 25-23, 20-25, 25-21, 17-25, 17-15 win over Nuwakot Volleyball Samuha and Bode came from behind to beat Wild Sports Club in five-setter 23-25, 25-23, 25-17, 15-25, 15-8. — HNS

District League :

LALITPUR: Lalitpur District Football Association is organising the District League Football Tournament from Wednesday. The 12 participating teams are divided into four pools of three teams each. Group winner from each group will qualify for the semi-finals. Bagdol Youth Club will meet Suryamukhi Shanti Yuva Club and Naya Bazar Yuva Club take on Janamarga Yuva Club on the opening day. — HNS

Kirtipur Cup :

KIRTIPUR: Rara Hill, Hill Town, Jana Sewa and Mangal School entered the girls’ section semi-finals and Rara Hill, Hill Town, Puspa Sadan and Mangal School qualified for the boys’ semi-final at the Kirtipur Cup Inter-school Basketball tournament. Rara Hill beat Laboratory School 50-13 and Mangal School beat Puspa Sadan 23-13 in boys’ section matches while Rara Hill girls beat Jana Sewa School 6-4. — HNS
