RIBS basketball :

KATHMANDU: RIBS ‘A’ outplayed Galaxy 55-24 in the senior boys’ category at the fourth RIBS Inter-school Basketball Tournament here today. Suman Baskota scored highest 18 points for the winners. In other two matches of the same category, Sridiwa defeated RIBS ‘B’ 44-24 with Amrit Gurung netting 17 points for the winning sides while HIMS beat Unique 56-51. Ajay Thapa top-scored with 22 points for Unique. After the last day of the league matches, Wilson, Baba, RIBS ‘A’, GEMS, Sridiwa, Venus, Little Angels’ and HIMS have made it to the quarter-finals. — HNS

Volleyball League :

KATHMANDU: Armed Police Force (APF) Officers’ Club defeated Karunakeshor Club 25-15, 25-21, 25-15 in the Dhorpatan Blue Sky Cup Volleyball League Championship today. In other matches, Nuwakot Volleyball Samuha beat Fulpati Sewa Samaj; Tribhuvan Army Club beat Wild Sports Club; Purbanchal defeated host Dhorpatan Sports Training Club; and Gulmeli Samaj beat Shikhar Sanskritik Manch. — HNS

Thakuri wins 5-km race :

KATHMANDU: Malla Thakuri won the 5-km race organised by Jyapu Society of Lalitpur on Wednesday. Rajman Maharjan and Bikash Deshar finished second and third respectively in the race started from the Bhaktapur Durbar Square. Sita Rimal claimed the women’s 3-km race followed by Keshari Maya Shrestha and Jyoti Silwal. A total of 227 men and 65 women took part in the competition. Top three winners in both the categories won Rs 5,000, Rs 3,000 and Rs 1,000 respectively. — HNS
