Volleyball League :

KATHMANDU: Tribhuvan Army Club (TAC) registered an easy 25-7, 25-10, 25-9 win over Kavre Offset Press at the Dhorpatan Blue Sky Cup Volleyball League Championship on Sunday. Other winners of the day included Nightingale Sports, Shikhar Sanskritik Manch, Bode Sports Club, APF Officers’ Club and Nuwakot Volleyball Samuha. Nuwakot beat Gulmeli Club, Nightingale edged past Purbanchal, Sikhar Sanskritik beat Kirtipur Sports Council, APF outplayed Peace World and Bode defeated Karunakeshar Yuva Club. — HNS

Sumina in semis :

KATHMANDU: Bronze medallist in the 10th South Asian Games Sumina Shrestha advanced to the semi-finals of the fifth Himalaya Open Badminton Championship. Sara Devi Tamang, Samjhana Khaling and Uma Palit also made it to the last four in the women’s singles event. The pair of Sumina and Sara Devi, Bina Tulachan and Uma, and Nary Thapa and Ratan Rai advance to the women’s doubles semi-finals. Raju Paneru, Kishore Rana, Sushil Bista and Sahadev Khadka entered the U-19 boys’ semis. Pratap Adhikari and Madhav Thapa entered the veteran’s doubles last four. Balram Thapa, Bikash Shrestha, Anil Lakhe, Pankaj Chand, Kishore Rana and Bishal Pradhan made it to the the men’s singles quarters. — HNS

RIBS basketball :

KATHMANDU: Little Angels’ School, Shreediwa School, RIBS ‘A’, Galaxy and RIBS ‘B’ won their respective matches in the senior boys’ category in the fourth RIBS Inter-school Basketball tournament. LAS defeated IMS 35-25, Shreediwa beat Baba School 46-29, RIBS ‘A’ edged past Himalayan International Model School 39-34, RIBS ‘B’ beat Glen Buds 39-20 and Galaxy edged past Unique School 37-36. Shridiwa beat LAS 24-14 and RIBS defeated Baba 39-27 in junior boys’ category. — HNS

Lim wins title :

KATHMANDU: K H Lim won the men’s singles Lawn Tennis tournament title under the sports festival organised by the Nepal-Japan Diplomatic Relations Coordination Council to mark the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations. Lim beat Sumit Bajracharya 6-1, 6-0 in the final. Renu Bajracharya beat Kalpana Thapa to claim the women’s singles title. Surya Bhusan Bajracharya and Renu Bajracharya won the mixed doubles title beating Durga Kunwar and Minu Khadki. Badminton tournament is scheduled at the National Sports Council for Monday. — HNS
