KATHMANDU: Nepal drew with Bahrain 2-2 in the 10th round of 37th Chess Olympiad in Turin on Friday. Digesh Shankar Malla was confident in his win over Bukhalaf Eb and Nepal No 1 Keshav Shrestha was struggling against Mohamed but fought back brilliantly and won the match. Vetran Rajendra Prasad Shrestha lost to Ayyad Maher, while Badri Lal Nepali commited a blunder and lost his game against Ayyad Hussai. — HNS

Inter-bank volleyball

KATHMANDU: Nepal Rastra Bank ‘Red’ advanced to the quarter-finals from Group ‘B’ after beating Nepal Bangladesh Bank in straight sets of 25-8, 25-12 in the Inter-bank Volleyball Tournament on Friday. Agricultural Development Bank beat Everest Bank 25-13, 25-15 but both the teams secured the quarter-final berths. In another match, Machhindra Bank overcame Kumari Bank 25-14, 25-16. — HNS
