10th Fr Foran Cup

GODAVARI: Sushil Rumba struck twice as hosts St Xavier’s School of Godavari (SXG ‘blue’) defeated Little Angels’ School 3-1 in the final of the 10th Father Moran Memorial Inter-school Football Tournament. Majim Nyachhyon scored the other goal for SXG, while Ravi Mahat netted the consolation goal for LA. Regina Amories came third with a 3-0 win over Young Hearts School. The individual award winners were Andrew Tumbapo (best player), Amond Tumbapo (highest scorer), Sonam Sherpa (best goalkeeper), Bikash Devkota (best defender), Majim Nyachhyon (most promising player) and Santosh Roy of SXG (best coach). — HNS

KC Nepal chief

KATHMANDU: Hari Sharan KC has become the Nepal branch chief of Wado Ryu Karate. KC was nominated the branch chief after he completed a ‘special training’ from Grand Master Yusuko Kuranami in Japan and also earned the third degree black belt on November 19. Labour and Transport Management Minister Rabindra Khanal, president of Nepal Karate Federation Thaneshwor Rai, president of Nepal Shito Ryu Karate Association Kedar Babu Siwakoti, chief of Sin Kyukosin Karate Laxman Shrestha, and vice chairman of Kathmandu DDC Madhav Khanal also congratulated KC. — HNS

Bagmati College win

Kathmandu: Bagmati Modern College defeated Sagarmatha Multiple College by eight wickets in the Dr Thakur Nath Panta Memorial Inter-college Cricket Tournament.

Batting first, SM College was bowled for a paltry 67 runs in 26.1 overs. Nirajan Chitrakar top-scored with 16 runs, while opener Ganesh Joshi scored 15 runs and Pritam Duwal Shrestha made 10.

For Bagmati, Rakesh Singh took four wickets conceding 16 runs in six overs and earned the man of the match award. He was ably supported by Binyash Neupane (3-6).

In reply, Bagmati College overcame the target losing two wickets in 11 overs. Opener Dhan Bahadur Karki top-scored with 28 off 39 balls hitting five boundaries, while other opener Rajendra Karki scored 18-ball 13. — HNS

Shanker Dev win

KATHMANDU: Public Youth Campus was declared the winner of the Nationwide Inter-college Basketball Tournament after Amrit Science College (ASCOL) was forfeited of the trophy for including an outsider. Shanker Dev Campus, who lost to Ascol in the semi-finals, had filed the protest after the match. Ascol, who was allowed to play in the final without any investigation, had defeated PYC in the final on December 22. Ascol failed to produce Anil Maharjan’s certificates and the technical committee of the organisers — TU Student Welfare and Sport Department and Free Student Union of PYC — declared the PYC the winners and Shanker Dev runners-up. — HNS

ANFA-Mayos soccer

LALITPUR: Morang defeated Kanchanpur 4-0 in the ANFA-Mayos Inter-school Girls’ Football Tournament. Deepa Adhikari, Indira Rai, Sarita Rai and Anmol Thapa Magar scored for the winners. In other matches at ANFA Complex, Dhankuta thrashed Lamjung 7-0, Udaypur defeated Kaski 4-0 and Bara beat Dang 4-0. At Chyasal Technical Centre, Sarlahi beat Nawalparasi 3-1 and Sunsari defeated Kavre 2-0. — HNS

MPC beat Freedom

Kathmandu: Mahendra Police Club (MPC) defeated Freedom Club of India 25-21, 25-14 and 25-19 to lift the third Men’s Invitational Dhorpatan Volleyball Cup on Sunday. Saroj Shrestha of the MPC claimed man of the match award while his team captain Bharat Shah was declared the player of the tournament. Tribhuvan Army Club beat Blue Moon 25-23, 25-15 and 25-21 to claim the third place. The top three clubs won a purse of Rs. 50,000, Rs. 35,000 and Rs.20, 000 respectively. — HNS
