Khanal in semis

LALITPUR: Gyanendra Khanal defeated Ananta Singh 3-1 to advance to the semi-finals of the Masters’ Open section at the Birthday Cup Open Squash Championship, which has been organised by Nepal Squash Rackets Association to mark the 59th birthday of King Gyanendra. Also, Prajjwol Raut beat Lokendra Singh Bhandari 3-2 and Gaurav Katuwal outplayed Ram-eshwor Neupane 3-0 to make it to the Men’s Plate quarter-finals. In Men’s Novice section, Ken Ward downed Saurav Khetan 3-0 in the last league match.

Rana advances

KATHMANDU: Kishor Rana of Dipendra Police School beat Lokesh Regmi of Malpi School 15-6, 15-7 to enter the senior boys’ singles semi-finals at the fourth Gillette Inter-school Badminton Tournament, here today. Likewise, Sushil Bista beat Badal Limbu 15-4, 15-7; Nibesh Tamrakar beat Abhiyan Phuyal 15-6, 15-7; and Rajan Shiwakoti beat Narayan Rana 15-10, 15-12 to make it to the round of last four. In girls’ doubles quarters, Galaxy’s Kusum and Yamuna beat Grand Academy’s Harikala and Asmita 15-4, 15-3; Gillette’s Siru and Saraswati beat Jyoti Academy’s 15-2, 17-16; Zenden and Tshering beat Sangita and Sabina 15-3, 15-10; and Sharmila and Smriti beat Nikita and Sadikshya 11-15, 17-14, 17-15.
