KCC cricket

LALITPUR: Defending champions Himalayan White House International College will take on Kathmandu Don Bosco College in the final of the third KCC Running Trophy Inter-college Cricket Tournament at IoE ground on Saturday. The match, originally scheduled for Wednesday, was postponed due to rain. The tournament has been organised by KCC Sports Club and The Himalayan Times is the official media.

B’day badminton

KATHMANDU: Himalayan Badminton Club is organising the fourth Birthday Cup Open Badminton Tournament from June 29-July 2 at the Sports Council covered hall. Around 175 shuttlers in seven categories are expected to take part in the tournament, said the organisers at a press meet today. The total prize money is Rs 211,000 — Rs 63,000 in men’s singles, Rs 21,000 in women’s singles, Rs 38,000 each in men’s, women’s and mixed doubles and Rs 13,000 in boys’ singles.

GCA cricket

KATHMANDU: AVM School defeated Bright Future by 32 runs in the 3rd GCA Inter-school Cricket Tournament here today. Batting first, AVM scored 143 runs losing nine wickets in 25 overs. Anil Bajracharya scored 44 off 47 balls and Ishan Timilsina scored 30 off 45 bals. For Bright Future, Pradip Thapa took three wickets. In reply, Bright Future could muster just 112 runs. Anish Thapa scored 25, while Manish Karki scored 20 runs. For AVM, man of the match Ishan Timilsina took 3-27 off five overs.

Budokai-do karate

LALITPUR: The fourth Nationwide Budokai-do Full Contact Karate Championship, under the auspices of Everest Budokai-do on the occasion of the 59th birthday of King Gyanendra, began here today. In all, 167 athletes are taking part in the men’s 25kg-55kg and open weight categories, and women’s 45kg and open weight categories. On the first day, all the quarter-final bouts were held. The semi-finals and finals will be held on Saturday. Earlier, Nikshya SJB Rana, central convenor of Unity Council, inaugurated the event.

Fr Watrin basketball

KATHMANDU: Godavari Alumni Association (GAA) in association with The Himalayan Times is organising the second Father Watrin Basketball Championship from Saturday at the GAA hall. In all, 16 teams are taking part in the 15-day tournament. As per the schedules, Two Star Club will take on Kathmandu Don Bosco in the inaugural match. — HNS
