Baba basketball

KATHMANDU: Wilson Academy, The Excelsior, Baba, South Point, RIBS, LRI, Gyan Niketan, and Alliance Academy entered the quarter-finals of the fourth Baba Basketball Tournament, which has been organised by Baba Boarding School. In the day’s matches, Gyan Niketan beat Alliance 40-18, and Shuvatara defeated Shining Star 33-10. In senior boys’ section matches, LRI beat Elite’s Co Ed 50-17, Gyan Niketan defeated New Summit 36-12, and RIBS outplayed Baba 75-56. — HNS

Himalayan basketball

KATHMANDU: A group of bachelor-level students of Himalayan White House International College is organising the third Himalayan White House Inter College Bachelor’s Level Basketball Tournament 2005 from June 8-21. In all, eight colleges are taking part in the tournament, said the organisers at a press meet. White House, Crimson International, K & K Management, Kathmandu Institute of Science and Technology are in pool A, while National Integrated College, Nepal Engineering College (NEC), Sagarmatha Multiple College and National College for Computer Science (NCCS) are in pool B. — HNS

Dhorpatan volleyball

KATHMANDU: Dhorpatan Sports Training Club is organising the Sky Overseas Cup Open Male Volleyball Tournament in Kathmandu from Wednesday. In all, 11 teams are taking part in the event, one of the three selection tournaments for the forthcoming Dhorpatan International Volleyball Tournament. The quarter-finalists will qualify for the second-round tournament, while the top six will make it to the final-round selection tournament, from which the top four will get a chance to play in the international tournament, said Manbir Chhantyal, president of DSTC, at a press meet. The winner will get Rs 10,000, while the runners-up will bag Rs 6,000 and Rs 3,000 respectively. — HNS

GCA cricket

KATHMANDU: Greenland Children’s Academy (GCA) Boarding High School is organising the third GCA Inter-school Cricket Tournament and first Inter-school Girls’ Cricket Tournament from June 18. In all, 24 teams in boys’ section and eight teams in the girls’ section tournament

are taking part in the tournament, said the school in a release. The organisers also said that the first-round matches will be played in league basis at Khulla Manch. — HNS
