White House in semis

LALITPUR: Himalayan White House and Galaxy Public entered the men’s section semi-finals of the JCI Patan Inter-college Basketball Tournament here on Monday. White House hammered Malpi International 94-26 riding on 20 points each from Anup Manandhar and Robin Khatri while Galaxy saw off United Academy 50-24 with Prakhyat Lama contributing 20 points for the winners. Xavier International and Golden Gate also cruised to the semi-finals in the girls section. Sima Karki netted 12 points as Xavier eased past Malpi 21-5 and Maya Syangten scored 15 as Golden Gate beat St Xavier’s 44-20. — HNS

NNIPA’s memorandum

KATHMANDU: Nepal National and International Players’ Association (NNIPA) on Monday handed over a memorandum to the National Sports Council (NSC) Member Secretary Hari Babu Chaudhary. The NNIPA has sought NSC assistance in the treatment of the former taekwondo player Manju Tuladhar. The eighth South Asian Federation (SAF) Games silver medalist Tuladhar was recently diagnosed with failed kidneys. She has been undergoing dialysis twice a week and needs transplantation at the earliest. Tuladhar also has a gold medal under her belt at the second National Games in 1983 apart from bronze medals at the Asian Taekwondo Championship in 1998 and the third National Games in 1985. — HNS

Ale, Magar in last four

KATHMANDU: Nirajan Ale Magar of Harisiddhi, Bijaya Magar of Buddha Prakash and Hemanta Maharjan of Sunshine reached the men’s Chan Quan semi-finals of the second Valleywide Wushu Tournament on Monday. Susmita Tamang and Soni Lage of Bhaktapur, Oshin Rai of Sunshine and Ruksana Shrestha of Madhyapur also confirmed their semi-final berths in women’s Chan Quan. Entering the men’s Nan Quan semi-finals were Sunny Shrestha of Central Wushu Kwan, Bishal Magar of Buddha Prakash and Suraj Thapa Magar of Madhyapur. Making it to the last four in the men’s Sansau 30-35kg were Pradeep Tamang, Ashish Magar, Bijaya Lama and Jeevan Lama. Santoshi Sharma and Anita Tamang also entered the 30-35kg and 35-40kg Sansau semi-finals respectively. — HNS
