NTSC in semi-finals

RUPANDEHI: Nabil Three Star Club (NTSC) entered the semi-finals of the Tilottama Gold Cup Football Tournament after their quarter-final opponent Knight Chess Club of Jhapa conceded a walkover here on Wednesday. Knight Chess was forced to withdraw due to the lack of transportation following Koshi river flood. Three Star, however, played a friendly match against ANFA U-17 to fill the void, which they won 3-0. The Lalitpur-based team will play the winners between Friends Club and Rupandehi-XI in the semi-finals. — HNS

Malpi beat GAA

KATHMANDU: Malpi International registered a narrow 51-50 win over hosts Godavari Alumni Association (GAA) in the FedEx fourth Fr Watrin Women’s Basketball Tournament here on Wednesday. Maya Shyangtan top-scored with 21 points for Malpi. In the other matches, Valley Public hammered Orient College 52-14 riding on a 17-point from Sujata Rai and Snow Leopards overcame Golden Gate 38-32 with Janiee Kosman scoring a match-winning 17. — HNS

Sanepa beat Garuda

LALITPUR: Sanepa Club eased to a 4-0 victory over Garuda Sports Club in the ‘C’ Division League Football Group A match here at the ANFA Technical Centre in Chyasal on Wednesday. Dilon Loktan scored a brace and Robin Rai and Binod Adhikari added one goal apiece for Sanepa. In other matches, Sakchham Nagar Youth Club beat Varsity Football Club 3-1 and Shree Bhagwati Club defeated Charumati Yuva Pariwar 3-1. With the day’s matches, Sanepa lead the Group A with six points from two matches while Bhagwati, who have played one more match, is second with five points. Sakchham Nagar and Chaurmati have equal four points from three matches. — HNS

‘B’ Div from Sept 10

LALITPUR: All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) is organising the ‘B’ Division League Football here from September 10. A meeting chaired by ANFA vice-president Kumar Jung Thapa came up with the decision to hold the league. The tiesheet of the tournament will be drawn on September 5, said ANFA in a release. — HNS

Monsoon Meet

KATHMANDU: Wilson Academy overcame Mt Kailash 45-38 in the senior boys’ matches at the Monsoon Meet Inter-school Basketball Tournament on Wednesday. In another senior boys’ match, Penwood edged Excelsior 23-20. In the girls’ section, Mt Kailash beat Excelsior 27-12 and Shuvatara saw off Little Angels 17-15. In the junior boys’ match, hosts Shridiwa dispatched Excelsior 29-26. — HNS

TAAN Volleyball

KATHMANDU: Trekking Agents Association of Nepal (Pokhara) and Himalayan Glacier advanced to the quarter-finals of the first Inter-trekking Volleyball Tournament, organised by TAAN, here on Wednesday. The Pokhara team beat Ashahi Adventure 25-15, 25-11, 25-18 and Himalayan Glacier saw off Multi Adventure 25-16, 25-27, 25-22, 25-19. Also advancing to the last eight were High Spirit and Nepal Environment. In all, 14 teams are participating in the event. — HNS
