Hosts Arunodaya win

KATHMANDU: Hosts Arunodaya humiliated Mt Glory 15-0 to to make it to the quarter-finals of the first Arunodaya Junior Boys Basketball Tournament on Wednesday. Golden Peak entered the quarter-finals with a 8-4 win over Maha Manjushree and Clinton also advanced despite their 8-14 loss to New Zenith. In another match, Marsyangdi sneaked a 8-7 win over Greenland. Also advancing to the quarter-finals were Nirmal, Sri Diwa, Swarnim and Grammar Public. — HNS

CPS Cup basketball

KATHMANDU: Watsal scored 20 points as the hosts CPS Higher Secondary School edged Unique Academy 43-41 in the CPS Cup Inter-college Basketball Tournament on Wednesday. Kiran netted 20 points but could not prevent United Academy from a 32-46 defeat against Rato Bangala in another match. Also, Campion Academy overcame Caribbean College 49-31. Sank netted 14 for Campion and Sadin 10 points for Caribbean. — HNS

Daffodil Cup

KATHMANDU: NIMS defeated Suryodaya 30-13 in the first Inter-school Basketball Tournament on Wednesday. In another girls’ match, Mahendra Bhawan overcame hosts Daffodil 33-12. In the boys’ section, Holy Garden thrashed Josephs 31-2, Wilson edged Daffodil 55-49 and VS Niketan outscored Arniko 43-17. In football, Sambotta hammered Wilson 6-1. Kipa Sherpa and Dewba Thapa scored two goals each while Devendra and Sanjeev Khadka added one apiece for Sambotta. Nikesh Rai pulled back for Wilson. In another match, Trungram International Academy (TIA) beat Learning Realm International (LRI) 6-3. Bikash Thapa and Keshang Thakuri each scored a hat-trick for TIA while Manoj Thapa scored twice and Sandesh Khadka added another for LRI. — HNS
