Thapa re-elected
KATHMANDU: The second general assembly of the Nepal Boxing Association (NBA) unanimously elected a 12-member NBA central executive committee for the next four years. Ravi Raj Thapa was re-elected as the president. Vice-presidents Pradeep Bikram Malla and Govinda Bahadur also retained their posts. Rajiv Shrestha is the general secretary, Dharmendra Malla the secretary and Ram Awale the treasurer. Among the members were Om Narayan Shrestha, Kiran Bahadur Shrestha, Sanjeev Baidhya, Govinda Dangol, Deepak Gurung and Gautam Sujakhu. — HNS
Saroli wins 5-km race
LALITPUR: Sudip Saroli won the first VDC-level 5-km Running Competition on Saturday. Saroli finished the race in 19 minutes and 18 seconds ahead of Jagat Shrestha (19.21) and Roshan Shrestha (19.31). The top three athletes received Rs 5,000, Rs 3,000 and Rs 2,000 respectively. — HNS
NSJF’s general assembly
KATHMANDU: The fifth general assembly of the Nepal Sports Journalists Forum (NSJF) unanimously nominated five council members here on Saturday. Mahesh Acharya, Durga Nath Subedi (Devendra), Pawan Acharya, Ajay Hamal and Som Pokharel have been nominated at the assembly of 49 members. Roshan Singh Raut, Prakash Timalsina, Ajay Phuyal, Ujjwol Acharya and Himesh Bajracharya have already been nominated as councillors by the fourth general assembly. — HNS
Singh retains office
LALITPUR: Amar Keshar Singh was unanimously re-elected as the president of the Nepal Squash Racket Association (NSRA) by the second general assembly on Saturday. Others in the 18-member central executive committee includes vice-presidents Kabir Chitrakar, Kishor Maharjan and Bhusan Krishna Shrestha, general secretary Dhurba Gurung, secretary Kiran Shrestha, treasurer Manoj Bahadur Shrestha, and members Rupak Das Tamrakar, Arun Pokharel, Gyanendra Khanal, Prem Singh, Amar Shumsher Rana, Dr Aquila Shrestha, Raja Bhai Maharjan, Gyani Raja Shakya, Pramod Shrestha, Ratna Kaji Shakya and Sanjeev Narayan Joshi. — HNS
Classic volleyball
KATHMANDU: Hosts Classic College International ‘A’ beat Bishnumati College 25-10, 25-14 but their team ‘B’ lost to K&K College 9-25, 25-22, 9-25 in the opening day of the first Inter-college CCI Cup Volleyball on Saturday. Also winning today were National Integrated College and Deep Jyoti. — HNS
