KATHMANDU: The first ever Johnnie Walker Classic Amateur Challenge tees off at the Le Meridien Gokarna Forest Golf Resort and Spa on Saturday. The winner will get a chance to represent Gokarna Golf Club at the prestigious Johnnie Walker Classic Pro-Am to be held at the DLF Golf and Country Club, Gurgaon on February 27. The winner at the Gokarna Forest Golf Resort and Spa will get a lifetime opportunity to play with some of the best golfers in the world like Jeev Milkha Singh, Colin Montgomerie and Adam Scott. — HNS

CCRC, Times win

KATHMANDU: Capital College and Research Centre (CCRC) defeated St Xavier’s by 42 runs and Times International College beat DAV by 40 runs in the National Campus Twenty20 Inter-college Cricket Tournament here on Friday. Sumit Shrestha scored an unbeaten 64 off 51 balls to help CCRC pose a 137-run total before restricting St Xavier’s to 95 runs in 18.5 overs. In another match, Times College made 164 thanks to a 41-ball 63 by Sanjay Shrestha and 55 by Rajan Khadgi. In reply, DAV could only manage 124-9. — HNS

LALITPUR: Nirmala Thapa and Kamala Limbu beat Tulasi Limbu and Pampha Sunuwar to enter the Ladies’ doubles final at the fifth Ramailo Badminton Tournament. Thapa and Limbu will meet Lila Limbu and Shashi Gurung in final. Also entering the finals were Shiva Rai/Mani Kumar Thapa and Prakash Rai/Bimal Shrestha (Men’s Doubles), Prakash Rai/Tulasi Limbu and Ganesh Chand/ Nirmala Thapa (Mixed Doubles) and Shiva Rai/Jagat and Naresh Tamrakar/Ram Krishna Dangol (Veterans’ Doubles). — HNS
