Majdur advance

POKHARA: Majdur Sahid Smriti Club of Kathmandu defeated Rupandehi-XI 4-1 to reach semi-finals of the 22nd Invitational Knockout Football Tournament here on Wednesday. Raj Kumar Ghising scored a brace while Rabin Shrestha and Bikram Lama added one apiece. Ramesh Shahi replied for Rupandehi. Likewise, Dharan Football Club earned a walkover win from Sankata Club to reach the last four.

Namuna win

LALITPUR: Hosts Namuna Secondary School ‘A’ and Lubhu School won their respective matches of the sixth Namuna Running Shield Volleyball Tournament on Wednesday. Namuna ‘A’ struggled for a 24-26, 27-25, 25-10 win over Valley Public (Lamatar) while Lubhu edged past Kopila 25-12, 25-12. Heritage, Namuna Machhindra and Mount Olive also won. Heritage saw off West Wing 25-8, 25-11, Namuna Machhindra beat Adarsha Soul 25-21, 22-25, 25-8 and Mount Olive defeated Namuna ‘C’ 25-8, 25-12.

School karate

LALITPUR: The Little Angels’ School (LA) are organising the first LA Inter-school Official Karate Tournament on December 11-12. A total of 250 players from 20 schools will vie for 18 gold medals in 10 boys’ and 8 girls’ event, said the organisers. The boys’ events include 20kg, 25kg, 30kg, 35kg, 40kg, 45kg, 50kg, 55kg, open weight category and individual kata. The girls’ events include 25 to 45kg, open weight category and individual kata. The school winning most number of gold medals will bag the championship trophy while awards will also be presented to most disciplined team, best players in boys’ and girls’ section.

Anamol triumph

KATHMANDU: Valley Public ‘B’ defeated Anamol Jyoti 33-4 in the girls’ section match of the seventh TIA Cup Inter-school Basketball Tournament on Wednesday. The result was insignificant as Valley Public ‘A’, Prithvi, hosts TIA ‘A’ and Mahendra Bhawan have already made into the last four. Likewise, TIA ‘A’, Green Land, LRI, Daffodil, Golden Peak, Paragon, Valley Public and Prithvi entered the boys’ quarter-finals.
