Malpi enter quarters

KATHMANDU: New Summit and Malpi International advanced to the senior boys' quarter-finals of the first LA Inter-school Basketball Tournament on Tuesday. New Sumit recorded double wins — 68-65 over Ullens and 56-43 against GEMS. Malpi saw off hosts LA 'B' 32-26. In the senior girls' section, LA 'A' overcame Gyanodaya Bal Batika 21-16 and will face Rara Hill in the quarter-finals. — HNS

White House advance

KATHMANDU: White House International College and National Campus reached the girls' semi-finals in the seventh Prime Cup U-19 (+2) Basketball Championships here on Monday. White House defeated National Campus 35-9 riding on Sajani Tamang's 11 points. Despite the loss, National entered the last four after Xavier International College saw off Orient 14-9 riding on Seema Karki's 10 points. CPS School reached the men's section quarter-finals after they beat Ace College of Management 43-42. In other matches, Prime thrashed NCCS 69-12, Xavier International sneaked past 31-28, White House defeated VS Niketan 38-33, Golden Gate 'B' eased past Campion College 42-24 and Whitefield beat Galaxy Public School 33-31. — HNS

Unique, NIMS win

KATHMANDU: Unique School and NIMS won first Teresa Academy Inter-school Basketball tournament on Monday. In the junior boys' final, Unique registered a narrow 46-45 victory over New Shrine. Chhiring Jyaduna, also the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the tournament, netted 29 points for Unique while Anuj Rana chipped in with 32 points for New Shrine. In the girls' final, NIMS edged past Teresa 29-22 after the MVP Swastika Shrestha contributed 15 points for them. — HNS
