KATHMANDU: The Nepal Basketball Association (NeBA) is organising the Lama Tendi Sherpa Memorial Open Men's and Women's Basketball Championship at the National Sports Council covered hall from February 14-24.

A total of 19 teams - 14 men and five women -will take part in the 11-day tournament which is being organised to pay tribute to its former president Lama Tendi Sherpa, who passed away in November last year, informed Acting President Bhim Singh Gurung at a press meet on Thursday.

Club champions of Bangladesh, Navy Team will also participate in the tournament along with two teams from outside the valley - Kaski and Rupandehi.

The men's teams will play under leaguecum-knock out format, while the women's section event will be held under round robin league with top two teams making it to the final. Top two teams in both categories will receive Rs 50,000 and Rs 25,000 respectively, while the MVPs will get Rs 10,000 each.
