Lumbini claim title

BHAIRAHAWA: Lumbini Khukuri Cricket Club won the title of the Suresh Shrestha Memorial District-level Twenty20 Cricket Tournament here on Tuesday. Lumbini defeated Shivashakti Cricket Club by 64 runs in all-Bhairahawa final at the Siddhartha Stadium. Invited to take first strike, Lumbini scored 126-6 in 20 overs before packing SCC to 62 runs in 15.1 overs. Kriten Gurung top scored for Lumbini with 35. Lumbini received Rs 30,000, while SCC got Rs 15,000. Kriten Gurung was named the man of the series and best batsman of the tournament and he earned Rs 7,500, while Western Cricket Academy’s Krishna Sen was declared the best bowler. Rupandehi Cricket Association organised the tournament in memory of Suresh Shrestha, who died of head injuries at the age of 14 in 1990. Siddhartha Hotel Association president Chandra Prakash Shrestha and main sponsor Susan Shrestha — brother of Suresh — handed over the prizes to the winners.
