Luxembourg world hopes headed by Andy Schleck
LUXEMBOURG: Luxembourg's Tour de France runner-up Andy Schleck heads up their team for the world road race cycling championships later this month.
Schleck, whose brother Frank was not included in the team after he withdrew from the Tour of Spain on Wednesday because of a left knee injury, will be joined by three team-mates including former Tour de France yellow jersey wearer Kim Kirchen.
However, Andy Schleck, winner of the Liege-Bastogne-Liege classic this season, has also had his problems during the Tour of Spain retiring in last Sunday's eighth stage for unspecified reasons.
The world championships get underway in Mendrisio on September 27.
Team:
Andy Schleck (Saxo Bank), Kim Kirchen (Columbia), Laurent Didier (Designa Kokken) et Jempy Drucker (Differdange).
