POKHARA: Machhapuchhre Cricket Club and Pokhara Cricket Academy recorded wins in the Sponsor U-16 Academy Cup here on Saturday.

MCC defeated Syangja Cricket Academy ‘A’ by two wickets, while Pokhara registered a 41-run victory over Rock-XI at the at the Machhapuchhre Cricket Club grounds.

Opting to bat first, Syangja scored 98-5 in their allotted 20 overs riding on Bishal BK’s 22 runs that included three boundaries.

In reply, MCC reached 99-8 in 17.3 overs with Sandeep Chhantyal scoring 44 off 46 balls. Chhantyal cracked a boundary and four sixes.

In another match, Pokhara scored 110-9 before packing Rock-XI for 69 in 16.5 overs.

Pokhara’s Mekh Bahadur Sen scored 24 off 25 balls hitting three boundaries and a six, while Sailesh Magar was the top scorer for Rock-XI with 16 off 23 balls that included one each four and six.

A total of eight teams are competing in the tournament with the winners and runners-up getting Rs 75,000 and Rs 35,000 respectively.
