Magar and team win Pro-Am

Pokhara, January 30

Deepak Magar and his team claimed the Pro-Am title of the Surya Nepal Western Open here at the Himalayan Golf Course today.

RNGC head pro Magar scored 35 points, while the amateurs in his team Tendi Sherpa (37), SSP Rajendra Shrestha (26) and Buddhi Man Gurung (38) totalled 101 points as the team accumulated 136 points to win the trophy.

Army Club pro Sanjay Lama and his team of Maj LP Gurung, Rabin Rana and Bharat Bastakoti came second with the total score of 135. Lama scored 33, while Gurung earned 32, Rana accumulated 34 and Bastakoti top scored in the team with 36 points.

Likewise, the team of pro Ramesh Nagarkoti (29), and amateurs Nar Bahadur Gurung (32), Jiwaram Gurung (38) and Balram Thapa (35) finished third with 134 points.

Buddhi Man Gurung (38) and Nayan Basnet (24) were the top scorer in individual section, while Rupendra Shrestha won the longest drive trophy and Jiwan Gurung bagged the closest-to-the-pin award.

Brand Manager of Surya Nepal Pvt Ltd Rajat Thapa handed over the prizes to the winners of the tournament organised by Nepal PGA.

Army Club pro Dhana Thapa won the fourth event under the Surya Nepal Golf Tour 2015-16 on Friday.

Thapa registered one-shot victory over Nepal No 1 pro Shiva Ram Shrestha to claim his second career title.

Thapa posted five-under 205 total, while Shrestha was second at 206 and defending champion Bhuwan Nagarkoti was third at 207. The event carried a total purse of Rs 540,750.
