Malla helps Kathmandu triumph

Bhairahawa, May 10:
Man of the match Gyanendra Malla scored a century as Region No 3 (Kathmandu) beat Region No 5 (Nepalgunj) by five runs and Region No 4 (Bhairahawa) beat Region No 6 (Baitadi) by four wickets in the day’s matches of the Under-17 National Cricket Tournament, today.
Electing to bat first at Siddhartha Stadium, Malla top-scored with run-a-ball 108 as Kathmandu made 197 runs losing eight wickets. Malla hit 13 boundaries and two sixes. Rupesh Agrawal contributed 40 runs with four hits to the ropes and a six.
For Nepalgunj, Nasir Ansari claimed 3-25 runs in eight overs. In reply, Nepalgunj scored 192/8 in 40 overs. Anupam Singh scored 75 runs and Bikash Thapa scored 67 runs.
For Kathmandu, Rupesh KC, Mohammed Hussain and Dipankar Thapa claimed two wickets apiece.
In the other match, Baitadi were bowled out for 112 runs in 31.1 overs. Padam KC scored 46 runs including seven fours and a six. For Bhairahawa, Nirmal Simgauda grabbed four wickets and Rajesh Basnet took two.
In reply, man of the match Subhash Pradhan top-scored with 57 runs as Bhairahawa overcame the target in losing six wickets.
For Baitadi, Sumsher Chand and Ganesh Rajak pocketed two wickets each.
On Wednesday, it’s: Biratnagar vs Kathmandu, and Birgunj vs Baitadi.
