Amar Lal Malla and Evana Thapa won the titles of the Valley Construction Nationwide Inter-ward Table Tennis Tournament here at the Lainchaur covered hall on Saturday. Malla from Kathmandu-25 registered a 11-5, 12-10, 11-7, 6-11, 1-11, 13-11 victory over Bodhit DC of Biratnagar-3 in the men's singles final.
Mahabir Jaiswal of Dharan-2 and Rajeev Chikanbanjar of Bhaktapur-5 finished joint third. In women's final, Thapa came from a set down for a 8-11, 11-9, 11-7, 12-10 win against Bianca Rai of Silichong-4. Shuvashree Shrestha of Kathmandu-2 and Diya Deula of Bhaktapur-5 came joint third.
Top three players in both sections received Rs 30,000, Rs 15,000 and Rs 7,500 respectively. Biratnagar-3 won the team championship with two each gold and silver medals and the team earned Rs 50,000.
Rajesh Bhattarai of Biratnagar-2 and Rajan Subba of Dharan-12 won above-40 and above-55 veteran singles titles respectively. Biratnagar-3 and Bhaktapur-5 bagged men's and women's team event gold medals respectively.
All Nepal Table Tennis Association President Chatura Nanda Rajvaidhya handed over the prizes to the winners.
