Max to fight in Japan

KATHMANDU: Nepali professional boxer Manohar Basnet is scheduled to take part in the Murakami Omatsuri, professional kickboxing event organised by Martial Arts Kickboxing Federation, in February next year.

Basnet will fight against former Japanese champion Itto Jyun in the light-heavy weight bout on February 3 at the Hotel Mielparque in Yokohama. Basnet, who was invited by kickboxing player Mohan Dragon after being impressed with his boxing, will leave for Japan on December 5 to prepare for the bout.

“This is an opportunity for me and Nepali boxing as a whole. It is just a start and I hope to open gates for others with my performance in the event,” said Basnet.
