Mix bag for New Diamond

Kathmandu, June 26

New Diamond Academy started the Yeti Flooring National Women’s Volleyball Tournament with a mixed bag here on Sunday.

New Diamond lost the inaugural match against Nepal Police Club (NPC) by 3-2 sets, while they returned to beat Tribhuvan Army Club 3-0 in another match.

In the Group B match, NPC took the first set 25-18 before New Diamond bounced back strongly and took the lead by winning the next two sets. They levelled the scores by taking the second set 25-16, and went ahead when they won the third set 25-18. NPC won the fourth set 25-13 to take the match into the decisive fifth and final set. NPC registered a 15-12 victory to win the match. In another match, New Diamond defeated Tribhuvan Army Club 25-13, 25-15, 25-11.

In Group A match, Western Region thumped Jawalakhel Volleyball Training Centre 25-13, 25-9, 25-15. A total of six teams are taking part in the tournament organised by Sher Bahadur Khadka Memorial Trust under the sponsorship of Yeti Flooring of Kedia Organisation. Earlier, Nepal Volleyball Association President Manoranjan Raman Sharma inaugurated the event. The top three teams will get Rs 100,000, Rs 60,000 and Rs 40,000 respectively. Six best individuals will be awarded with Rs 3,000 each.
