Moktan wins Everest Cup Golf Tournament

Kathmandu, April 2:

Maj Bejoy Moktan won the Everest Cup Golf Tournament organised by Everest Hotel here at Royal Nepal Golf Course today.

Played at 7/8 Stable Ford Handicap format, Moktan accumulated 38 points, while Binay Raj Pandey scored 35 points to finish runner-up.

Khadga Jeet Baral won the title in the Super Senior (70 years and above) category played over nine holes with 12 points, while Capt Machhindra B Rai scored 33 points to win the Senior section title. Pushpa Rai was the winner in the Ladies section with 25 points on count back. Tashi Ghale won two awards: most birdies award with three birdies, and best gross award with 31 points.

Hrideshwar Kuma Singh won the longest drive award at Hole No 11, while Deep Bahadur Basnet emerged the golfer nearest to the pin at Hole No 14. Rajendra Man Sherchan received the best sportsmanship award.

In all, 69 golfers — including six in ladies, 22 in senior and three in super senior categories — took part in the one-day tournament, which began in 1997. K B S Lamba, General Manager at The Everest Hotel, gave away prizes to the winners. RNGC president Siddheshwar Kumar Singh and club captain Deep Bahadur Basnet expressed their views on the occasion.
