MPC survive NRT scare

BUC beat Machhindra, Sankata pip RCT:

Dev Narayan Chaudhary’s injury-time goal gave Mahendra Police Club (MPC) a 1-0 win over New Road Team (NRT) while Gyanendra Armed Police Force (APF) Officers’ Club and Jawalakhel Youth Club (JYC) played a 1-1 draw in the Martyrs’ Memorial San Miguel ‘A’ Division League here at Dasharath Stadium Today.

Boys’ Union Club (BUC) defeated Machhindra Club 3-0 in the bottom-table clash and Sankata Club beat Ranipokhari Corner Team (RCT) 1-0 in the matches held at Armed Police Stadium in Halchowk.

The 76th minute substitute, Dev Narayan, rescued MPC scoring one minute into the second half injury time. NRT coach Raju Shakya said that no one can be blamed for the defeat considering the way they conceded the gaol. “There was nothing wrong with the performace of my boys,” Shakya said.

Assistant coach of MPC Anil Adhikari said that the game was competative. “We had an upper hand after their forward (Yugal Kishore Rai) got injured,” Adhikari said. Yugal left the ground after a clash with MPC goalie Ritesh Thapa in the second half. “I am satisfied with the players’ display as they worked hard to earn the win.”JYC defensive blunder saw Raghu Prajapati score on a corner in the 25th minute. The ball rolled into the net after Dipesh Thapa and Sanoj Shresha failed to clear it.

Abdul Gani Olawale helped JYC earn a point when he headed home on Deepesh Thapa’s cross in the 73rd minute.

At Halchowk, Raj Kumar Ghising’s ninth-minute solitary goal gave Sankata 1-0 win over RCT. In the second game, Mark D Afam scored two and Hari Thakuri scored one in BUC’s 3-0 win over Machhindra.

Afam put BUC ahead in the 17th minute before adding another goal in the 26th minute. Hari Thakuri made it 3-0 in the 38th minute, as both teams failed to produce goal in the latter half.
