Nagarkoti, Sharma leave for Malaysia

KATHMANDU: Nepali professional golfers Ramesh Nagarkoti and Pashupati Sharma left for Malaysia today to participate in the Omega Mission Hills World Cup Qualifier scheduled for August 26-29 in Seri Selangor Golf and Country Club in Kuala Lumpur.

The golfers duo will play Four-ball on

August 26 and 28 and Foursome on August 27 and 29. Among the 15 participating nations, the top three nations will qualify for the Omega Mission Hills World Cup to be held at Mission Hills Golf Club in China scheduled for November 26-29.

Teams making it to the World Cup in China are assured of getting a share of their prize money in the $3 million tournament. The Nepal Professional Golfers’

Association (NPGA) selected the golfers to provide opportunity to new professionals.

“Top-ranked Nepali golfer Shiva Ram Shrestha is currently undergoing training in the United States, so we’ve granted the chance to other pros,” said NPGA General Secretary and professional golfer Deepak Acharya in a farewell function at the Royal Nepal Golf Club.

Nepal has participated in the prestigious tournament three times previously. Deepak Thapa Magar and Deepak Neupane had represented Nepal last year. The NPGA President Rabindra Man Shrestha among others bade farewell to the golfers.
