Narayangarh advance
KATHMANDU: Narayangarh Football Club entered the quarter-finals of the fourth Nepal Cup Invitational Football Tournament after beating Rupandehi XI 2-1 at the Kampachaur football grounds in Chitwan on Monday. Suman Shrestha and Tejendra Chaudhary scored a goal each for Narayangarh, while Saroj Thapa netted the only goal for Rupandehi. Shrestha converted a spot kick in the fifth minute to provide Narayangarh an early lead. Shrestha earned the penalty opportunity after Rupandehi’s Kamal Thapa fouled on Narayangarh player inside the danger zone. However, Rupandehi’s Saroj Thapa equalised the score in the second half. But, player-of-the-match Chaudhary scored match winning goal for Narayangarh in the 81st minute. Altogether 11 teams are vying for the title of the tournament as winners will take home Rs 300,000 and runners-up will bag Rs 200,000.
