National-level boxing in July

Young Star Sports Club is organising the second Bir Ganesh Man Singh National-level Boxing Tournament here at the Lainchaur Covered Hall from July 15-19.
The tournament will feature men’s 10 weight categories — 49kg, 52kg, 56kg, 60kg, 64kg, 69kg, 75kg, 81kg, 91kg and above-91kg — and women’s eight categories — 48kg, 51kg, 54kg, 57kg, 60kg, 63kg, 69kg and 75kg, informed Club President Mathura Das Newa at a press
meet today.
The organisers informed that around 400 players from 25 districts as well as Tribhuvan Army Club, Nepal Police Club, Nepal APF Club will compete in the tournament.
Club Vice-president Neel Kaji Shakya said team champions in both categories will earn Rs 50,000 each, while players winning gold, silver and bronze medals will also be awarded with cash prize.The estimated budget of the tournament is Rs 1.15 million and the National Sports Council will provide the organisers with Rs 500,000.
Meanwhile, Nepal Boxing Association President Ram Awale said the tournament would be helpful in producing talented boxers.
