Pokhara enter semis
KATHMANDU: Pokhara-XI and Gorkha Boys Sports Club made it to the semi-finals of the Shahid Smriti Cup Football Tournament here at the Dasharath Stadium on Monday. Pokhara laboured to a 3-2 win over PLA Sports Club and Gorkha Boys eased to a 3-0 win over Kathmandu-XI. In the first match, man-of-the-match Sujal Shrestha struck in the 30th and 39th minute before Anil Ojha added the third for Pokhara-XI. Suraj replied in the 81th for PLA Sports. In the other match, Sanjeev Budhathoki put the Gorkha Boys ahead in the 77th minute and skipper Surendra Tamang double the tally two minutes later. Tamang completed the rout adding his second goal in the 88th. Pokahra-XI will face Gorkha Boys in the semi-finals on Wednesday while Tuesday’s semi-final pits hosts Majdur Shahid Smriti Club and Knight Chess Club of Jhapa.
Reliance in final
KATHMANDU: Reliance and Lincoln set championship dates for the first BST Cup Inter-college Boys Basketball Tournament here on Monday. Reliance ousted hosts BST College 45-36 despite Santosh Thapa contributing a whooping 22 points alone for the hosts. Niraj Pariyar contributed 10 points for Reliance. In the other match, Lincoln saw off St Lawrence 63-52 riding on 26 points from Elin KC.
Deep Jyoti triumph
KATHMANDU: Deep Jyoti laboured to a 25-23, 25-27, 23-25, 25-23, 15-9 win over G4 Sports Club in the fourth Gangabu Deep Jyoti Cup Men’s Volleyball Tournament here on Monday. Held at the Bishal Multi Sports Training Centre in New Bus Park, Nepali Army and Armed Police Force (APF) also won their respective matches. Armymen saw off Darshan Transport of Pokhara in straight sets 25-12, 25-17, 25-22 and APF overcame Jawalakhel Training Centre 25-23, 23-25, 25-18, 25-13.
