CAN name final squad

KATHMANDU: The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) on Friday announced the final 14-member squad for the 11th South Asian Games cricket under the captaincy of Gyanendra Malla. Amrit Bhattari, Chandra Saud, Binod Bhandari, Naresh Budhayer, Subhash Khakurel, Sagar Pun are the others selected for the regional games. Also, successful to make the cut were Prithu Baskota, Rupesh Srivastav, Bhuwan Karki, Anil Kumar Mandal, Aakash Gupta, Amit Shrestha and Pradeep Airee. Anupam Singh, Lokendra Chand, Rom Shrestha and Pradeep Sapkota are name the reserve players. The selection committee headed by Arun Kumar Aryal declared the final squad after the closed camp that started from January 2.

Team off to Malaysia

KATHMANDU : A six-member Nepali Under-14 lawn tennis team left for Malaysia on Friday to participate at the U-14 Asian Tennis Championship slated for January 9-20 in Kuchin Sarabak. The team includes Brahmanda Singh Moktan, David Tako, Abhaya Gauchan and Anushka Malla. The team is accompanied by coach Krishna Raj Ghale and official Bhu Arun Malla.

Golf sets handed over

KATHHAMDU: Surya Nepal Pvt Ltd Abhijit Chakraborty handed over golf sets to the three junior players selected from Surya Nepal NGA Youth Golf Coaching Programme. Sanjeev CK of the Himalayan Golf Course, Pokhara and RNGC duo Dinesh Prajapati and Sonam Ongdi were the three players selected from the programme held last year. The sets, worth Rs 400,000, were specially selected by golf consultant Brendon De Souza, who picked the these three players from the lot of 11 golfers selected from the junior programme run in all the five golf courses of the country, informed Surya Nepal Brand Manger Iswar Gautam. Brandon, the CEO of Tiger Sports, is lated to assess the improvement of the selected golfers. Nepal Golf Association General Secretary Tashi Ghale was also present on the occasion.
